Pastor Brian Fertig

Pastor Brian Fertig was raised in northwest Pennsylvania and attended Edinboro University where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree.  After finishing his degree, he answered his call to ministry and attended North American Baptist Seminary (now Sioux Falls Seminary) in Sioux Falls, SD.  While attending seminary, he served student pastorates at churches in South Dakota and Iowa. He also served as a chaplain at Avia McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.  He was ordained in the United Church of Christ while serving as pastor at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Rock Rapids, IA.  After serving in parish ministry, Pastor Brian decided to pursue full time chaplaincy work.  He did a one-year residency in hospital chaplaincy at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, NY.  When completed, he spent the next twenty years serving at various locations across the United States as a chaplain in the Federal Bureau Of Prisons (BOP).  After twenty years of service with the BOP, he served as pastor at Altamonte Chapel (UCC) before receiving a call to the Community Congregational Christian Church in Citrus Springs, FL.

Pastor Brian places a lot of emphasis upon Jesus’ response to the Sadducees in Mark 12:24. It is his desire to make known the power of the Scriptures and the God we serve.  Not just personally, but also as a community of faith who express their faith in and through the church.

In his off-time, Pastor Brian enjoys a good book (mystery or political thriller) or movie.  Hiking, camping, time spent at the beach are other activities he enjoys.  Not to mention, a good meal having been prepared by himself or others.
